Teen girl and bionic fingers

On the early stages, fresh amputees have to handle with pain and physical conferred by amputation operation, rehabilitation and finding out how to use a prosthetic device. There are few health and medical issues that amputees may need to address with also. Innate amputees and their kinfolks will deal with numerous of these personal problems, like accommodating to the amputation, over time as the amputee child grows up.

Chloe Holmes is 15 years old from Swindon and she lost her fingers when she was a child, suffering from septicemia resulting from chickenpox. She had a prosthetic had until her folks raised £38,000 (over $60,000) for the hi-tech hand presented in the video above.

She is now the youngest person in Europe to be equipped with bionic fingers. AS you can see, Chloe is really cute and it's a pity that bad things happen to good people. But still she is a gorgeous girl and it makes me glad to see science and technology arrived to the rescue.

Nokia Kinetic concept design

Concept designer Jeremy Innes-Hopkins has a fascinating concept smartphone named the Nokia Kinetic. The smartphone answers to notifications and calls through movement. An electromagnet in the base of the smartphone admits weight to be changed which induces the phone to rise when experiencing a call, for example.

This phone features a pioneer design. The slick and unique curves brings a fresh design that Nokia was lacking for years.

The Evolution of Video Games

I've been watching MysteryGuitarMan (Joe Penna) on youtube for a while. He combines his own music videos with technology-related videos and making-of videos that will keep you on his youtube channel all day.

Video description: What happened every 20 years in gaming. No cuts.
I saw the making of for this one and it was like crazy. That's why you need to watch the video twice and observe how things appear and disappear in the background.

DIY: Electric Cigar Box Guitar

I will start with this: making this project will cost you around $25. Building this Electric Cigar Box Guitar will take around 3 hours (using a knife, a saw and a sharp hatchet). If you have other proper tools you will finish faster. Remember that green wood is the easiest to carve. The cigar box should be as strong as possible, made of solid wood.

Parts list:
Cigar Box - $2
Tuning Heads - $10-$20
1/4" Jack - $2
Bolts (bridge/nut) - $1
Neck - Free
Microphone (speaker harvested from any outdated electronics) - Free
Finishing Nails - Pennies...Free enough

The Neo Cube

NeoCube (Neodymium magnet toy) was developed by Chris Reda from Pittsburgh, United States in 2008. It is an object consisting of or incorporating neodymium magnets. Normally they're magnetized structure sets or magnetic sphere building toys.

How to pick up girls using technology

The man in charge with this project said that this was a very challenging build. He made various modifications to the original toy car. You can see that he added a radio controlled engine, GO Pro Hero HD camera, speakers and other additions.

As you can see, this geek made setup is a pretty hot pick-up scheme.

HP TouchPad for $99!

I'm not sure if you heard about it, but HP is killing webOS. This means it will discontinue all the phones as well as the HP TouchPad tablet. I don't necessarily consider this a good decision, because I really think webOS was amazing.

The good part about all these is that HP TouchPad is blowing right now! It might not be a perfect tablet, but for the new price they are selling ($100), it will be hard to beat even by iPad 2.

The HP TouchPad can be bought from:

The Robotic Painter

This robotic machine applies artificial intelligence to paint its own work and to make its own decisions. When doing this, it listen to its surroundings and studies what it discovers as stimulant into the painting process. When it's in a quite place and everything is calm, the machine, like many artists, listens to itself. I wonder what happens when it hears music.

Tokio Drift in the Living Room

This is the life of rich and famous. Some rich people collect cities, some collect islands. Some rich people loves various extreme sports, but it's the first time that I'm seeing something like this. Keith Moon (the original drummer for The Who) is attempting an amazing stunt in a hotel room with a Cobra replica.

The video has no back story but we can guess Keith did it simply because he could. We should give the driver props for only destroying the floors (and not the walls or the column). Enjoy this and don't attempt it at home!

Learning and Thinking Robot

Is this the future depicted in movies like Terminator or I, Robot? Artificial Intelligence has come a long way and we already own automated gadgets around the house. This thinking robot it's developed at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Based on the technology called Self Replicating Neural Network (SOINN), the robot can make decisions like humans especially on tasks that have never been done before.

“So far, robots, including industrial robots, have been able to do specific tasks quickly and accurately. But if their environment changes slightly, robots like that can’t respond. This robot remembers only basic knowledge, and it can apply that knowledge to its immediate situation. If it doesn’t know enough, it stops, and reacts by saying, “I can’t do this because I don’t know how.” So, if you teach this robot just the things that it can’t do, it incorporates those things as new knowledge, and it can solve the problem overall, by including that knowledge.”

3D Printer Technology

3D printing is a type of linear fabricating engineering where a three dimensional physical object is produced by laying down consecutive levels of material. 3D printers are commonly faster, more low-priced and easier to use than other additive manufacturing technologies. 3D printers provide product developers the power to print parts and fabrications made of several fabrics with various mechanical and physical attributes in a single build process. Advanced 3D printing technologies yield models that can function as product prototypes.

What is this?

I just found this on reddit. Does anyone know what is its purpose? It seems to be some kind of old school radio from IBM. Is this right?
