The future of glass

10 Years ago I would never believe I could carry a super-computer with me all times. Right now I have an iPhone 4 that compared to the computers those days is so much smarter. I see no reason why this amazing glass technology could not be available for us somethime in the near future.

Watson: The smartest computer in the world

We've seen it in many movies across time. Machines becomes smarter than man and conquer the world. The old battle between Man vs Machine is put to the test by scientists in a Jeopardy game. They say "Watson" is world's greatest and smartest computer and he can actually think. It has an equivalent power of 6000 home computers. But what's special about Watson is the software that allows it to understand human language like no other.

Terrafugia - Flying Car

This Flying car holds about 460 pounds, including the passengers and the fuel. It's white, light and can travel to land or air (depends on your needs and the weather). Another cool thing about this car-plane is that it uses normal fuel.

It has a steering wheel and pedals for driving and a control stick for flying.

They said it would be available to general public soon, but for me it looks like a prototype that will never go to mass production.

Reasons not to buy a Tablet PC

I know tablet PCs are huge these days, but there are folks not too pleased with them. It's hard to understand why someone would choose not to buy an iPad, a Samsung Galaxy Tab or Archos 5 and opt for a desktop or an old fashion laptop.

The first reason is that the tablet provides no tactile feedback. It's really hard to feel something real while touching a glass. On-screen keyboards are not as accurate as good-old-fashion keyboards we are found of.

Of course, you can do a lot of cool things with your tablet PC, but there are better alternatives. They say a tablet is great for watching TV online, but the experience is much better on a real TV using the remote control. You can read books on it, but Kindle is way better because of the eInk technology that has reduced eye fatigue. It's easier to surf the web on the computer, because you can use multitasking and multiple tabs in the same time. Many tablets these days does not offer that. Any available app for a tablet has a desktop alternative that is better in any way.

The argue is that a tablet is useful when traveling often, but in your own home a laptop would be better.

What's your opinion on the matter?

Life with Data

It's amazing to see how technology advanced we are. Some of us could not have a life without internet, iPhone, laptop or other gadgets.

Escher´s waterfall. Real or not?

Escher´s waterfall depicts a seeming paradox where water from the base of a waterfall seems to run uphill prior to hitting the top of the waterfall.

Although most 2D artists use relative symmetries to create an illusion of depth, Escher exercises contradictory symmetries to create the visual paradox. Waterfall has the structure of a Penrose triangle, an unacceptable object planned independently by Roger Penrose and Oscar Reutersvärd.

Google Nexus S vs Apple iPhone 4

This is an extended comparison between Google Nexus S and iPhone 4 via PhoneArena.
It was hard to miss the WVGA video recording capability of Nexus S, compared with the 720p video recording of the iPhone. Apple's FaceTime app is better than any video call software provided by Android.

Telekinesis is real

Telekinesis is no longer a Sci-Fi or Paranormal subject. Right now, people all over the world are moving objects with their mind with the help of technology. Brain-computer interfaces are here, enabling neuro-prosthetics, brain-powered wheelchairs, and even thought-controlled pinball machines. The trouble is that using brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) requires a huge amount of concentration and it's hard to use it more than an hour. At present a research group at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland is doing work to clear this trouble, by masterminding BCIs that grant users to breathe their brains--and even to multitask.

Another team of computer scientists from Germany made possible for a car to be driven only with the power of thoughts. The driver is equipped with EEG sensors connected to a computer. The computer picks the driver's intention to steer left or right, and executes it. Although this is only a demonstration, it's amazing how far science has gone...

History of Mobile Gaming

Do you remember the original GameBoy? That was a massive success. Did you know it had a CPU of 8-bit Z80 CMOS (4.19MHz) and 8KB of ram? Man that was a blast. I still remember me playing Tetris on that amazing mobile gaming platform. Right now I can play tons of games on my iPhone 4, or my PSP.

Kinect with Windows Phone 7 (video)

This is a demo straight from Microsoft letting us know that big things are coming in the future. You can see Windows Phone 7 connected directly to your Kinect. This comes shorty after Nokia and Microsoft just tied an agreement, meaning Microsoft is ready to take over the phone market. If this would be available to the general public, it would increase the numbers of Kinect players that are able to play in the same time.

Computers: From 1939 to 2010 [Infographic]

Computers have come a long way since 1939. When I was young Commodore 64 was still the best thing on the market. My father took me to his job once, and showed me the greatest computer ever build. It was so big, enough to have a room just for it. And storage capacity of 100mb. I was so amazed. This was in 1990. Right now I have an Intel Core i5 that is so fast, people from that time line would never believe it fits in my backpack.

Invisibility Breakthrough

The researchers say this is only the beginning. This experiment uses a computer, a camera and projectors to show background images on the front of the subjects. This creates the illusion of invisibility. What makes this technology unique is a fabric made of glass beads only 50 microns wide, which can reflect light directly back at the source, much like the screen in a cinema.

eBook Reader Comparison

I was amazed to see that in 2011, Amazon's Kindle is still The Best eBook Reader on the market. It seems that compared to other eBook Reader, it stands out due to it's innovative technology: eInk, 3G, long battery life, mp3 player.

One of the best features is the E Ink Pearl technology with darker and crisper clear fonts. You'll be able to read your books in bright sunlight because there is no glare. Another cool thing about Kindle is that you can store up to $3500 books on it, and you'll be able to find over 1.8 million free, out-of-copyright books.

With one charge, Amazon's Kindle will last up to one month (with Wi-Fi off). And all that for $139...

iPhone security broken in 6 minutes, all passwords exposed...

You may sleep better because you feel if you will lose your iPhone everything is OK because it's secured. Think again. The Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology in Germany has created an iPhone app that can reveal all stored passwords in its keychain in about 6 minutes.

The Best Smartphone Camera

After reading more than hours and hours of reviews, watching different video comparisons, I finally got some finalists:

HTC Desire HD vs Iphone 4 video comparison

Don't get me wrong, HTC Desire HD is a great smartphone. It takes amazing pictures, but when it comes to video, it seems that the audio is pretty lame. I thought it was a local problem on that particular device, but it's not. So, the iPhone 4 wins this battle, so far. There were no real competitors until I found this amazing phone:

Nokia N8 vs iPhone 4 video test

The difference is so obvious, there is nothing more to be said. Nokia N8 wins this one without any problems. Sure, if we talk about smartphone capability, iPhone 4 is a much better phone. Lots of apps, support, great design and a huge fan base. No argue about that. But when it comes to picture and video recording quality , the Nokia N8 is the winner. See 8 untouched pics taken with Nokia N8. So, I really it deserves the best spartphone camera trophy.
